For GM / General Motors. EN-47945 is used to retain the valve spring in the valve-open position in order to remove either the stationary hydraulic lash adjuster (SHLA) or the valve rocker arm. The cam is positioned to open the valve, then EN-47945 is installed to retain the valve. Once the cam is turned to release tension on the rocker arm, the rocker arm or the SHLA can be replaced. Unapproved methods can damage the valve train components.
