After recovery of refrigerant and component service/replacement in an AC system, lost oil must be replaced. GE-48997 is used to inject oil into the AC system of 2-Mode Hybrid vehicles. The oil for hybrid AC systems with electric compressors is different than oil for R134a systems so a separate injector tool must be used to assure no POE hybrid oil is contaminated with R134a PAG oil. The quick connect coupler collar on GE-48997 is color-coded green to differentiate it from other oil injectors and a decal tag clearly denotes it is only for Hybrids using POE oil.
