For General Motors. The pilot bearing or bushing must be drawn evenly into the back of the crankshaft, and the bushing is installed to a specific position. Hammering either into position will damage the crankshaft and thrust bearings. J-45949 installs the pilot bearing for manual transmission models, and the converter support bushing for automatic models. The bearing or bushing is placed onto J-45949, and then into the crankshaft bore. Previously Essential J-8433 Puller is attached to the crankshaft using bolts included in J-45949, and tightened against J-45949 to install the bearing or bushing.
