For General Motors. The axle shaft seal is being updated for improved performance. Currently Essential J-36797 Seal Installer will no longer fit to install the updated seal. J-46405 is designed to fit the new seal in both on-vehicle and unit repairs, and also fits the first design seal. Its handle is long enough to allow the technician to change the seal on-vehicle without removing the axle housing cover, and its pilot will center the seal over the differential stub. Unapproved installation methods may damage the seal.
